About the Role: 

Technical writing is a skill that translates complex technical concepts into simple language to enable a specific user or set of users to perform a specific task in a specific way. Someone specifically effective in communication requires the skills to produce quality content, language, format, and more. To present appropriate content, writers must understand the audience and purpose. 

Roles & Responsibilities:  

Writing Responsibilities

  • Research and write documents such as user manuals, training manuals, technical notes, troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and online help.
  • Keep all assigned documentation components up-to-date with the development of their respective products, while meeting high quality standards.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with development, testing, marketing, professional services, and related groups through the product-lifecycle process to collect information, meet requirements, and assist in product development.
  • Professionally and consistently self-edit own work and assist in editing the work of other team members when necessary.
  • Meet requirements for speed, deadlines, and methodology.

Audio-Visual Responsibilities

  • Record UI simulations for e-learning courses.
  • Creating storyboards/scripts and production-ready content for video or web-based training programs
  • Perform production tasks on eLearning assets (edit videos, produce LMS compatible outputs, integrate media and interactions)
  • Creating, assembling, and polishing the screencasts and recorded content, providing effective and efficient quality control.
  • Cut shot sequences at specific points in scenes, making each individual cut as fluid and seamless as possible.
  • Trimming video segments to specified lengths, and reassembling segments in sequences that present information with maximum effect.
  • Develop technical eLearning content using modern production tools (Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia) about a data software product, a data catalog – added advantage
  • Create the final polish for all customer-delivered content by using extraordinary attention-to-detail
  • Create digital assets for e-learning courses individually and/or with the creative team
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Technical Writer or a diploma/certification course in Technical Writing
  • Experience with authoring tools like FrameMaker, RoboHelp, along with advanced MS Office Suite skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in technical writing; candidates will be asked to take a writing exam.
  • Experience with solving communication problems for conceptually complex products.
  • Knowledge of video tutorials, web-based trainings, and eLearning courses
  • Knowledge of recording and editing training videos will be a huge advantage
  • Knowledge of instructional designing concepts and eLearning will be an added advantage
  • It would be beneficial if the candidate has ideally completed a course, diploma or degree, in video editing, photography or a related field.
  • Basic/intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Tech savvy, with considerable knowledge of audio/ visual equipment, hardware, software, troubleshooting and techniques used in video production & editing,
  • Experience in basic text and video animation
